Bush is a Homophobe!

Yes, you heard it here first...George W. Bush is a homophobe. How else would a progressive individual explain the fact that he has not seen the shoo-in for Best Picture, Brokeback Mountain? From Drudge:

President Bush has so far skipped BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN -- the Hollywood hit about two homosexual cowboys.

During a Q&A session at Kansas State University today, a student asked Bush: "I was just wanting to get your opinion on BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN if you'd seen it yet."

The crowd laughed softly before the student said loudly: "You would love it! You should check it out."

"I haven't seen it," Bush said flatly. "I'd be glad to talk about ranching, but I haven't seen the movie," he said to laughter. "I've heard about it."

The president waited a second or two, then said, according to a transcript: "I hope you go -- (laughter) -- you know -- (laughter) -- I hope you go back to the ranch and the farm, is what I was about to say. I haven't seen it. (Laughter, applause.)"

If he hasn't been impeached over spying on us, this should do it for sure.

Be sure to head on over to Mean Ol' Meany for his take on the film (Two Dogs actually saw it).

Drudge has been doing everything he can to make Brokeback Mountain a controversey by putting every conceivable anti-BBM headline he can find on his homepage.

Fortunately, no one is really biting. The people who want to see it are seeing it. The people who aren't interested are staying away. From what I've gathered from friends (of varying political stripes) who have seen it, it's a good movie, period.

Unlike the legitimately controversial Farenheit 9/11, which was pure one-sided spin and nonsense packaged as presumably objective documentary filmmaking, BBM is a work of fiction. The story it is adapted from is a work of fiction. It's no more controversial than any other film that some people may not find to their tastes.

If the President doesn't see it, who cares, you know? He's no different from anyone else on this. People see the movies they're interested in seeing.

Me? I want to see it, but I'll wait for the DVD. If it does as well as expected on Oscar night, it'll probably be in stores by sometime in March.

Cigarette companies used the American cowboy to sell their unhealthy product.

The deviants in Hollyweird took a page from that book. They are selling another unhealthy lifestyle to America by using cowboys.

I bet 94% of America would get physically ill watching this sickening flick.

Alex, like Pam said, I actually saw the movie. If there is anyone telling you that it is good, never turn your back on them, they are idiots and baaaadddddd judges of cinema.

Alex, I agree with you. Drudge is feeding into the hype, which is being perpetuated by many others. I also agree that those who want to see it will, and those who don't won't be swayed by any "it's great!" hype. I probably won't see it...but then, I don't see many films these days (time and money, you know). I was spoofing on the MSM and their desire to get Bush on anything they possibly can. This post is listed under "Satire."

You know, I saw the satire heading after I had posted (of course).

And I do want to see it, if only so that I can talk about it properly and see if it lives up to the hype. If I think it sucks, I will certainly "open up a can" on it at my place.

And Two Dogs, the review you posted is one of the funniest I've read anywhere. Outstanding.
