They Want Us Dead

British authorities thwarted a plot by terrorists to blow up planes en route from Heathrow Airport to the United States. Apparently three U.S. airlines were targeted.

This BBC story says the men arrested were "British-born" and there were "ties to Pakistan." Apparently, it is the closest the BBC can bring itself to saying the would-be terrorists are Muslims.

The security level for commercial flights in the U.S. has been raised to red for the first time in the wake of this latest attempt to kill innocent people. Any kind of liquid, including hair products, are being banned from being carried on, and boarding security is very tight.

As always, Michelle Malkin has a great round-up of coverage.

For those of you who have difficulty in understanding what's going on, let's make it clear: Hardline Muslims want to kill us. They don't care if you voted for Al Gore in 2000 or John Kerry in 2004. They don't care if you live in a blue state instead of a red state. They don't care if you want Joe Lieberman to lose his independent run for the senate in November. They want to kill so many Americans that we will give up fighting in the Middle East. Their ultimate goal is to spread radical Islam to all four corners of the Earth. And if you don't end up converting to Islam, you are to understand that you will be less than a second-class citizen (see dhimmitude).

And it doesn't end with Americans. Other Western civilizations are subject to this wave of jihad as well. The tenets of the Western world go directly against the core beliefs of Islam. The biggest offense? Freedom.

So if you insist upon believing that we can talk it over with these guys over a Starbucks frappucino, go ahead and do that. The rest of us will be supporting our government and our military in a fight for our way of life.

UPDATE: One of my favorite bloggers, Pat at Brainster, lets us in on some of the conspiracy theories that are already swirling about regarding this latest threat. You thought they would wait a day or two? You must have skipped your coffee this morning.

Hey, has anyone asked Ned the Cable Guy how many of those targeted planes were bound for NYC? And on those NYC-bound planes, how many of the passengers were from Connecticut?

Just wondering.
