Will Women Vote for Hillary?

I've written an article that The American Thinker has graciously chosen to run. Follow the bouncing link. Let me know in the comments section what you think!

One Saturday afternoon I was channel surfing and fell asleep. What woke me up was Hillary on C-Span giving one of her insufferable screeching speeches!!!

OMG! She actually woke me up out of a nice afternoon nap!!!

I actually had a little simpathy for Bill at that moment. God help the country if she becomes President!

Great article. The issue isn't Hillary's gender. It's her politics. But it's her likability that will thankfully prevent her from getting elected.

I liked the article, especially that you were concerned with presenting the views of potential voters. Here are a few things you might have done differently, since, well, you asked.

The quotes could have been edited down more. I thought most of them only required two or three sentences, even where we got seven or eight.

More data from polls would have been nice, say, a history of how women responded to a specific question over time (would you vote for HRC? do you like HRC? postive or negative image of HRC? etc.)

I loved the way you used polling data, I just wanted more.

Another point I'd make is that you didn't address how much support she'd gather from her fellow senators/representatives/party members. HRC has been careful to cultivate relationships with members from both parties, an advantage she might use to overcome the 45% who say she is unelectable.

Also, this question: "Was George W. Bush really re-elected in 2004 because women put national security above everything else?" should've been left out, or answered with a little polling research, not speculation.

A good article, but more new information/analysis would've made it an excellent article.

Thanks for the feedback, Paul. This was my first attempt at writing an article for a serious online site, and I was definitely going for an even-handed look at the issues. The suggestions you made did not occur to me at the time, but they are definitely good ones. Where were you when I was writing this? :-)

I've read the piece -- wonderfully written (comprehensive) and very interesting. (I think I might know who one or two of those quoted are!) You do good work, Miz Blogmeister! I'm impressed.

Congrats!

one aspect, i still have yet to have someone i have encountered in NYC, tell me honestly whether they voted for Hillary.

seems a bit of a challenge to brag about supporting this person, even in NYC.

i mean, i am certain there are many robust Hillary supporters in the NYC area, but i have yet to have one be vocal about it.

I'm sure you'd have picked up on most if not all with additional drafts. It always helps to have a second set of eyes. When I write I miss stuff I'd pick up in a second in someone else's work. If someone could make a pill that fixed that, they'd be rich.

Anyway, good luck with the writing. You have the talent, just remember the discipline of multiple drafts and reading your work not from your pt. of view but from that of your audience. Which I'm sure you know.

Kudos, Pam!! You do good work...keep it up.

Two more ideas, which you may already have. Any writer should have a well worn copy of EB White's Elements of Style. Any writer who writes for newspapers, magazines, and now I guess blogs, should use the style guide of the publication they're writing for. Almost all use the AP Stylebook, except real big, pompous papers like the NYTimes and such. I don't know if you're familiar with them or not, and if not I think they're both essential books to have and to use.
