Joe Barbera Dies at 95

Joe Barbera, half of the team who brought us The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo and other cheesy but classic toons, died yesterday at the age of 95.

Interestingly enough, he started out in banking!

I remember getting up early on Saturday mornings with my sisters. We'd consult the TV Guide and line up our morning viewing schedule, which always included Scooby Doo and whatever other Hannah Barbera cartoon was popular at the time (like the Laff-a-Lympics). Invariably, our parents would come into the family room well before 9 a.m., turn off the television, and tell us to get off our butts and go outside.

R.I.P. Mr. Barbera. Thanks for the many memories!
