Chase: Ford Was a "Sweet Guy"
Has-been Chevy Chase, in what some may consider a bid for a little publicity in the wake of Gerald Ford's death, said that despite his Saturday Night Live routines that portrayed Ford as a bumbler and a klutz, he thought Ford was a "terrific guy" after getting to know him. Why did he make Ford the butt of so many jokes?
"He had never been elected period, so I never felt that he deserved to be there to begin with," the actor said about Ford, who died on Tuesday at age 93. "That was just the way I felt then as a young man and as a writer and a liberal."
Speaking of terrific guys, rumor has it Chase himself isn't one. According to this "shout out" by Trevor on CHUD.com, Chevy likes to hang out at a place called Boston Billiards in Danbury, CT (not far from where I live). Trevor says that Chase has become "infamous for getting people fired or kicked out." (I've heard this from other sources as well, so it may well be true.)
On a more insidious note, the sewer rats that infest the Democratic Underground have stayed true to form in the wake of Ford's death. Van Helsing at Moonbattery has the revolting details.

I didn't know there were people who could hate that much! It really boggles my mind that someone could be so angry and evil-minded.
