States Fed Up with Illegal Aliens
The states are becoming more and more frustrated with the federal government's inability or refusal to deal with the problem of illegal aliens, and according to this WaPo article, there are a number of them willing to do something about it. Among those states considering or enacting legislation:
*Oklahoma passed a law restricting illegals' access to all forms of official ID, barring them from receiving public assistance, and is handing out fines to employers who hire them. Nebraska and Idaho are considering similar legislation.
*Michigan lawmakers have considered taking away health and welfare benefits from illegals.
*In Arizona, a proposal is on the table that would allow police to ask people they arrest about their citizenship status, and if they cannot produce documentation, seize them and hold them until they can be deported.
*Virginia approved a proposal to strip charities and other organizations of state and local funding if the money is used to provide services to illegals.
*Maryland legislators defeated a proposal that would have allowed illegals to pay in-state college tuition, and they are currently considering putting a 5% surcharge on wire money transfers to Mexico.
Meanwhile, our federal government hasn't figured out that the majority of Americans are sick and tired of their gross mishandling of the illegal alien problem. They live in a bubble in Washington DC. I'm looking forward to the day when that bubble pops.
