Padilla Buster
After a 13-year (and counting) career in law enforcement, I don't have much faith in the criminal justice system. And after reading this story, I still don't:
MIAMI - Jose Padilla, a U.S. citizen held for 3 1/2 years as an enemy combatant, was convicted Thursday of helping Islamic extremists and plotting overseas attacks in a case that came to symbolize the Bush administration's zeal to clamp down on terrorism.
Padilla was convicted of "supporting terrorism." This is a charge now? Cripes, while we're at it, can we charge people with supporting the Cleveland Indians, Tony Stewart, or Ron Paul?
