"The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam"

This is the name of a video produced by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, and it was banned by YouTube. Of course: ban the videos that show the horrors of Islamic Jihad, but allow Jihadi recruitment videos to stay up. How silly of me to think otherwise!

The video has brutal images that are not for the squeamish, and they are NOT for children. If you choose to view it, make sure there are no children present, please! (Sadly, some of those featured in the video are children.) There is one scene where I had to avert my eyes, I was so horrified. But it's necessary to get the word about the oppression of women in places like Iran. These are the realities for many women throughout the world, oppressed by Sharia law. Their stories deserve to be told.

If you're still game, go to Front Page Magazine and scroll about halfway down the screen...click on the image of a woman on the gallows to watch. (You'll need Windows Media Player.)

In this country, feminists are worrying about the fact that there aren't enough women academics in the sciences, gosh darn it. They really ought to watch this video and thank their lucky stars for their problems.

What bugs me about this post is the title, though you can't do much about that as it's the name of the movie. The cultures, traditions, perspectives in these countries may opress women, Islam's values does not, Islam gave women rights to vote, divorce, own property, be an individual looooooong before the western and democractic countries even acknowledged these things. It's pathetic that in order to find out what Islam is all about, the media and population look at people who clearly don't even practice it accurately and then say this is a Muslim, this is Islam while the majority of Muslims out there are screamin thier lungs that out this isn't Islam or even related to it.

Islam's "values" are seen throughout the globe lately. And sadly, it's not the benevolent religion the above poster described. It's the violent, intolerant fascism shown at that link. There are millions of Muslims practicing that brand of bloodthirsty Islam, whether it's the "true" Islam is completely debatable. Hopefully, the "majority" of peaceful Muslims will join the rest of the world who are appalled at those barbaric throwbacks and will help eradicate such horrific practices.

It's amazing how some on the Left say that people like Ahmadinejad and Hussein aren't/weren't bad people, when women, gays, and minorities would be the first to go in those regimes.
