Obama vs. McCain: How Did It Happen?
Question:
If the MSM did its job the way it's supposed to--watchdog for the public--neither of these men would be running for president. Obama probably wouldn't be a senator. Yet, one of them will be living in the White House next January. But how can that be, you ask?
ThirdWaveDave has the answer.

I'm still confused about why those on the hard right don't think of McCain as a conservative. He wants to continue the war in Iraq (and holds the party line that we're "winning"), hates not only abortion but also birth control, is more worried about lawsuits against corporations than fundamental human rights, plans on not only continuing the Bush tax breaks for the rich but also adding to them, has developed a "health care plan" that basically changes nothing from the free-market plan we have going now, worked against domestic partnership rights in Arizona, and pretty much agrees with Bush on everything. I know that there was the whole immigration thing that upset quite a few people, but does that one thing get in the way of decades of being among most conservative members of the Senate? And I ask this in earnest -- perhaps you could point me to a previous post(s) that explains this?

(Pam, thx for the linkage, too)

Let's start planning Barry's 4th year of national public service party. I think this is a big milestone and one that should be recognized with a huge party.
Reminds me of a Gen Xer I hired - he quit after about 8 months because he didn't get a promotion.
