Britain's Home Secretary: Higher Priorities
Britain's Home Secretary (whose duties are described here) Charles Clarke thinks the fight against terrorism is more important than certain civil liberties. In fact, he told the EU's Members of the European Parliament (MEPS) in Brussels that, "a fundamental civil liberty of people in Europe [is] to be able to go to work on their transport system in the morning without being blown up."
Imagine that? The right to life is more important than being photographed without permission by CCTV cameras that now dot London and other British cities.
I hope Britain and Europe listen. I can only wish that our Democrats would listen to him as well.
