Journalistic Pedigree: What It Used To Be?

Joe at geosciblog has an interesting, well-written post on whether or not having a journalism degree automatically makes you more of an expert than the guy next to you who uses common sense, education and logic. An excerpt:
The MSM establishment has existed for a long time in a world of self congratulation, from other elite brethren in media and academia. The Sunday talk shows are, for the most part, spent by media elites talking to each other, about each other. And it is this elite and the incumbents that would like to silence talk radio and bloggers in the "runup" to elections, after all, they are the only ones "trained and experienced enough to understand the nuances of politics."
Read the whole thing. (You have to scroll way down...Joe is having technical problems with Blogger.) Well done as always, Joe!
