Profile Now

In the wake of the exposed plot to blow up planes midair by Muslims born and bred in England, British police are now worried about violence toward the Muslim population.

This is the only time you will see the BBC use the word Muslim in a news story...when the Muslims are being victimized.

I'm not excusing idiots who randomly strike out at people because they happen to look or dress a certain way. There is no room for that in a civilized society.

However, I am suggesting that it is time to begin profiling young Muslim men at our airports and other major transportation hubs. Searching thousands of travelers who are not part of the population that is known to be involved in these kind of terror attacks is not only inconvenient, but a waste of time for authorities.

What do the following events all have in common? (Let me know if I've forgotten any.)

Khobar Towers bombing
USS Cole bombing
WTC bombing in 1993
9/11 attacks in the U.S.
7/11 subway bombing in London
Australian embassy bombing in Jakarta
Thwarted plot to bomb Herald Square subway station in NY

They were all perpetrated by young Muslim men of Middle Eastern heritage, even though some had no "known ties" to terrorist groups according to authorities. Michelle Malkin lists the names and ages of the latest instance for us.

And as we all know, Islam has a friendly little aspect about it called jihad:

As Dr. Pipes explains, “the way the [militant] jihadists understand the term is in keeping with its usage through fourteen centuries of Islamic history” – during which it has meant the compulsory effort to forcibly expand Muslim territory and influence. “The goal is boldly offensive,” says Pipes, “and its ultimate intent is nothing less than to achieve Muslim dominion over the entire world.” Indeed the scholar Bat Ye’or explains that historically jihad has meant “war, dispossession, slavery, and death” for its victims. This is a far cry from the purported, noble struggle to “give oneself over to God.”

Now is not the time for namby pamby, politically correct pussyfooting. Profile now. If the Muslim populations in the U.S., Britain and other countries where they've emigrated to get annoyed, then perhaps they need to examine the reason why. Extremists from their own midst are the ones perpetrating these atrocities around the globe. If they can't come to accept that reality, then too bad for them.

The rest of us have bigger things to worry about than their feelings.

Absolutely, searches should be done reasonably, NOT randomly.
