Illegal Sanctuary

This article really caught my eye:

Immigration activists around the country are taking up the cause of a single mother who invoked the ancient principle of sanctuary and took refuge in a Chicago church rather than submit to deportation to Mexico.

Elvira Arellano, 31, was holed up for a second day Wednesday at Aldalberto United Methodist Church with the support of the congregation's pastor. With her was her 7-year-old son, Saul, an American citizen.

Apparently church sanctuary doesn't mean a hill of beans in accordance with U.S. law, but it certainly wouldn't look good for the feds if they stormed in to arrest her.

This is yet another reason why our citizenship and immigration laws not only need to be overhauled, but upheld. The children of illegals should not be granted automatic citizenship upon birth. Now this woman is playing the sympathy gambit and getting it, even though she is not even supposed to be here. If and when she is deported is anyone's guess.

Ridiculous.

I reposted my earlier "Elvira" and added a link to your post on her.

This is crazy, isn't it? They will stop at nothing, even when it is ridiculous.

Are we a country of laws? Or are we not?

My parents came to the US legally. They waited their turn. My dad has an American flag in his backyard.

We are sick and tired of hearing how lawbreakers demand their "rights." This woman is not a benefit to this country. We don't want her here. Her morality and ethics are questionable...as are those of her so-called store-front church.

She is a law breaker. Probably she has chosen to avail herself of those of our laws that suit her...like free healthcare, food substidies, education or other social services paid for by legal American taxpayers.

She picks and chooses which laws are convenient to obey and which are not. Do we actually want someone like this person in the US? I don't think so.

Persons like Arellano always talk about their needs..."me," "mine," "I want," etc. They are selfish and self-centered. They ignore the fact that it costs the average American $11,000 per year to pay for each of them.

The Senate wants to bring in more low-skilled persons (60-100 million) within 10 years. The effects of this legislation would result in the decrease of our middle class due to downward pressure on wages and benefits.

In fact, S.2611 and the Hutchison-Pence bills would actually make life more difficult for those Hispanics who are here now legally. They would be forced to compete with millions of others.

It is obvious that these bills benefit Big Business (who substidize Senatorial campaigns).

It behooves me that I as a Puerto Rican am being generalized with mexicans. People need to realize that there is a major difference between a Puerto Rican and a Mexican. First pick up an atlas and see that there are about 2000 miles of ocean between the two. Unlike Mexicans we embrace this great country and speak (English) and Spanish,we are born citizens, and are willing to fight for this great country like we have in WWII,Korean War, Vietnam and Iraq. We have sacrificed in times of peril for this country and people need to wake up and realize there are major differences especially in language and culture. That babble most people hear mexicans speak is not spanish. I say again it is not spanish, I can't even understand what they say and I speak spanish fluently. Does anyone ever bother to wonder why there is a mexican dictionary?? They have so many made up words its not even funny. Illegal mexicans are giving hispanics a bad name and frankly I am tired of it. It doesn't make sense that illegals have "universal healthcare" by just breaking the law coming here and there are so many Americans who have no health insurance and are quickly billed for any healthcare they incure, its sick. Look I know there are other ethnic groups that come here illegally but everyone knows Mexicans are the biggest group coming in here knowing they can take advantage of the social programs here. Build a wall(A real wall not a tin fence) on the border and put active duty troops and problem is solved. It kills me when I hear these gutless politicians say a wall won't solve anything! really?? Well I guess lets just keep the flood gates open and not do anything about it and give away millions upon millions of hard earned US tax dollars away for "FREE" then. Caucasian people need to realize there are thousands of hispanics like me who want this problem fixed now.
