New Haven's New Illegal Policy: Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Reminiscent of Bill Clinton's gays in the military policy, New Haven has enacted legislation that forbids police from asking about the legal status of anyone who reports a crime or otherwise asks for police assistance.
According to the New Haven Register:
Undocumented [illegal -- ed.] workers often are the victims of crime and don’t report it out of fear of being deported. They’re often attractive prey because without legal documentation they can’t get bank accounts, and keep their money with them or in their homes.
By rough estimate, there are about 10,000 undocumented [illegal -- ed.] aliens in New Haven alone. It’s impossible to say how many have been victims of crime and not reported it.
I'm sorry for anyone who is the victim of crime. However, simply by being here, these people are themselves committing a crime. And, they make themselves targets as a result of their illegal status. When are these people going to be made to take responsibility for their actions?
As usual, the left's answer is to ratchet up a notch their status as victims. (I'm thankful New Haven mayor Joe DeStefano (D) failed miserably in his bid to become Connecticut's govnernor, if this is an example of how he runs things.)
