Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop
That's the title of my weekly piece at Family Security Matters today. Here's an excerpt:
So yes, with things going so well at home, it’s easy to become irritated at the constant barrage of news from the Middle East. The cry resonates: “Pull the troops out!” Sure, pull them out. If the aftermath of a precipitous pullout is worse than that of Vietnam, it won’t be our problem...or will it? I hear it all the time: “We need to take care of our own people before we worry about the rest of the world.” Ah, but the rest of the world isn’t concerned with waiting for us to declare that we’re finally ready to face them. Osama bin Laden took full advantage of our desire to keep the status quo. Unfortunately, we seem to be ready to go back to that warm, comfy place we inhabited before being shocked beyond all belief on 9/11.
